This page gets you here: a docs space you can use, with the right title and public entry.
The tree and articles are in Add folders and pages.
Where
From the docs sidebar, start at the space list (/admin/docs). The description is about creating and managing spaces. Open a title to reach the tree and the pages.
The empty state says there are no doc spaces yet. Add a space is at the top right. You can search by space name. When you are not searching, you can drag to reorder.
Add a space
- Press Add a space (
/admin/docs/spaces/new). The description says to fill in the title and slug; after you save, you can add a root folder and pages on the tree. - Fill in the table, then save.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | The space name in the admin and on the public site |
| URL slug | For a space that is not the default, this appears in the path, for example product in /docs/product. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens |
| Summary | Optional. Shown on the public space switcher and on the default overview cards |
| Icon | The small image on the overview and the switcher |
- Back on the list, open the title to enter that space’s tree.
Most sites already have a default space. You do not need to add another for everyday work. Open a second space when you want a second library (a product API, for example).
Edit a space
From the list, open that space’s settings (the edit page title is about editing the space settings).
- The default space’s slug cannot be changed. Do not create a new space whose slug is
default. - You can change the title, summary, and icon.
- The screen has a control that returns to this space’s tree and pages.
Delete a space
- The default space cannot be deleted.
- For a normal delete, empty the folders and pages first. Otherwise the system refuses.
- If the space still has content and the screen offers a force delete: type
DELETEin the confirmation field, then press the button that deletes the space and every node. That removes the tree as well. It cannot be undone.
Change the public prefix (/docs)
If the space list has type settings (usually owners only), you can change the display name and the public URL prefix (the type code), for example to /help.
- After you save, every public docs URL changes.
- The system tries to rewrite the old prefix on existing docs redirects. When it finishes, check Redirect a document.
- The prefix must start with a lowercase letter, and may use only letters, numbers, and underscores. Do not reuse a fixed route, or a slug that a site page already uses.
Check
- The space appears on the space list.
- Opening it shows an empty tree or the existing tree, and you can add a root folder.
- On the public overview: the default space is
/docs; other spaces are/docs/{slug}(use the real prefix).
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| You cannot delete the space | Empty the nodes first, or use the force delete (it removes everything) |
| You cannot change the slug | It is the default space. That is expected |
| After you change the prefix, old bookmarks fail | Check docs redirects. For a large change, confirm with TimTech first |
