This page gets you here: at least one bookable resource, with weekly hours set.
Booking items are in Add a booking item.
Before you start
- The site has bookings on (see How modules are turned on).
- Your role is owner or site editor.
Where
Sidebar Resources (/admin/bookings/resources).
The list title is Resources. Add resource is at the top right.
The description says you manage bookable staff, rooms, or equipment.
A workable order
- (Optional) Maintain Resource types from the top of the resource list or the related entry (for example “Technician” or “Classroom”). Email and LINE use the type name as the label, for example “Technician: Tim”.
- Add resource, fill in the name, and leave it active.
- On that resource’s edit page, set Weekly availability, and add Blocked dates if you need them.
- Then check this resource on the booking item.
Add one resource
- Press Add resource.
- Fill in Basic info (the table below) and press Save.
- After it is saved you can keep editing Weekly availability, Blocked dates, and Attribute definition.
Basic info
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | The name on the public site and in notifications |
| Description | Optional | Extra text for you or for the public site |
| Resource type | Optional | If you leave it unset, the list shows Uncategorized |
| Active | — | When it is off, the public site cannot make a new booking for this resource. Future bookings that are already confirmed are not changed |
| Sort order | — | You can drag the list. Auto-assign also uses this order to pick the first free resource |
If you deactivate a resource that still has future confirmed bookings, the notice says deactivating only affects new bookings. Delete cannot be undone. Check that nothing still depends on it.
Weekly availability
The tab or section title is Weekly availability. Times are stored as local time in the site timezone (see the site’s basic settings).
- Press Add time range.
- Choose the Day of week (Sunday through Saturday) and the start and end for that day.
- You can add more than one range (Monday morning and Monday afternoon as separate ranges, for example).
- Press Save availability.
No hours means that resource is almost impossible to book. After you change the hours, pick a date on the public site and test once.
Blocked dates
The title is Blocked dates. On a blocked date, that resource cannot be booked.
- Pick a date. The reason is optional.
- Press Add blocked date.
- A blocked date applies immediately. You do not press Save again.
Use this for a sudden day off or a room repair. Do not only change the weekly hours and forget a slot that is already open that day.
Attribute definition (advanced)
A resource can have custom attributes (a staff email, for example) for the Google Calendar invite. This is not the questionnaire the customer fills in.
- On Attribute definition, add fields (an email field is allowed).
- On Attribute values, fill in the real values for this resource.
- If Google Calendar is connected, you can check which email attributes are added to the calendar invite.
The customer questionnaire is edited on the booking item’s Booking form. See Add a booking item.
Check
- The resource appears in the list, and the status is Active.
- The hours have at least one day and one time range.
- When you later create a booking item, Available resources can check it.
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The booking item says to create a resource first | Add and activate at least one resource on this page |
| The public site has no dates to pick | Hours are empty, every day is blocked, or the minimum notice has used up today’s slots (see the booking item) |
| You cannot delete a resource type | Move the resources to another type, or to none, then delete the type |
