This page gets you here: the new ZIP is live, or you have returned to the previous version when you needed to.
Upload is covered in Create a site and upload a ZIP.
Where
Static sites → Manage on that site. The section title is Releases.
Columns: status, created, and failure reason. A row may offer Open preview, Publish, and Roll back to this version. The version visitors see now is marked Live now.
List status:
| List status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not published | Nothing has been published successfully yet |
| Preview pending | A preview exists. Visitors still cannot see the new content |
| Live | The public address is the version that is live now |
| Maintenance | Maintenance mode is on. See Password, redirects, and maintenance |
Preview
- After a successful deploy, that row shows Open preview.
- Open that link. The address includes a preview parameter. Do not open only the platform subdomain homepage. That is the public version for ordinary visitors.
- Preview works only on the platform subdomain (
code.sites.…). It expires after about 48 hours, and search engines do not index it. After you publish, that preview link stops working immediately. - If a custom domain is already attached, opening the preview does not send you away, so you can compare.
Preview pages do not include GTM / GA4.
Publish
- When the preview looks right, click Publish on that preview row.
- On success you see Published. That row becomes the one that is live now.
- Open the public platform address (or a verified custom domain) in a private window and check.
If the deploy has finished but you have not published, visitors who open the public address see Not published. That is expected.
Roll back
The platform keeps about the last 3 successful releases. Older ones are dropped.
- In Releases, find an older row that can still be rolled back.
- Click Roll back to this version. On success you see Rolled back.
- The public address should return to that version’s content right away.
If Roll back to this version is missing, that release is no longer kept, or it was not a successful release you can put live. Upload the ZIP again.
Static SEO report
After each ZIP deploy finishes, the same page shows Static SEO report. It is a local check of the HTML inside the ZIP (title, description, H1, image alt, canonical, and whether a file is too large). It is not a Google score, and it does not block Publish.
The screen may show a count like 2 errors · 1 warnings. Common findings: missing root index.html, missing title, title too short or too long (aim for 10–70 characters), missing meta description, missing H1 or more than one H1, images missing alt text, missing canonical, HTML over 200KB, an asset over 1MB.
Fix the ZIP from the report, then upload again. The scan covers up to about 40 HTML files and lists 80 findings. When you hit that cap, pages that are not listed may still have the same kinds of issues.
How to check
- The preview link shows the new content, and the layout and links are right.
- After you publish, a private window on the public address (with no preview parameter) also shows the new content.
- The old preview link has expired or no longer applies.
When it gets stuck
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| No Open preview | The deploy has not finished, or it failed. Read the failure reason. Or the preview is past 48 hours, or you already published |
| Preview opens the CMS homepage | The address is missing .sites., or you did not use the preview link from the admin |
| You published, but visitors still see the old site | Browser cache. Use a private window. If CDN is on, the platform clears that site’s cache after publish. Wait a moment and try again |
| Roll back failed | That version is no longer among the 3 that are kept. Upload the old ZIP again |
