This task is complete: Write a latest message and make it visible on the front end.
Both owners and site editors can do this. Please create categories in advance, see How to Manage Message Categories.
Prerequisites
- Latest Messages must be visible in the backend.
- At least one category must already exist in Category Management. If there are no categories, the editing page will prompt to add one first, and you will not be able to save or publish.
- The role must be Owner or Site Editor (viewers can only see).
Path
- Sidebar Content Type → Latest News (
/admin/news). - Click Add News.
- Fill in and use the bottom toolbar Save Draft or Publish.
- When published (or scheduled), the toolbar Preview is available (must be logged into the backend, do not share as a public link).
Edit existing news: Click the title or 'Edit' in the list. Path /admin/news/…/edit.
What can be done in the news list?
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Search / Category Filter | Find and edit |
| Publish Toggle | Published ↔ Draft; Scheduled will show 'Scheduled' |
| Preview | Open the front-end article page |
| Copy as Draft | Copy one and modify |
| Delete | Cannot be undone |
| Drag and Drop Sorting | Adjust list order (front-end featured/list often follows this order) |
| Bulk | Publish, change to draft, categorize, delete (with progress) |
| Copy Public Link | Copy front-end URL from the list (different from 'Copy as Draft') |
Add a news item (step by step)
The screen is roughly divided into Basic, Content, SEO/Author sections. It is not necessary to fill in all optional fields at once.
1. Basic
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Yes | Title for the backend list and frontend display. |
| URL slug | Yes | The last part of the frontend path. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, e.g., site-launch-note. You can type hyphens while entering; the system will format it after leaving the field. Avoid changing it much after going live. |
| Summary | Recommended | A short introduction for the list card; may also serve as a backup if the SEO description is not filled. |
| Scheduled Publishing (Optional) | No | Leaving it blank means it will go live immediately after clicking 'Publish'. If a time is filled, it will be published at that time. The time is interpreted according to the current management site timezone. Saving as draft will not write into the schedule. |
| Category (Multiple selections allowed) | Yes | At least one must be checked. The last category cannot be unchecked. |
| List Cover Image | Recommended | Used for the frontend news list card, article detail cover, and related article thumbnails. |
For multilingual sites: Title, summary, and content will have language tabs; languages that are not filled will use the primary language. See How to Translate Content.
Changing the title during editing will not change the slug by default to avoid breaking old URLs.
2. List Cover Image
- Select from the gallery or upload, see Upload and Select from Gallery.
- Recommended size 1200×900 px (4:3), with width at least the recommended value; formats JPG or WebP.
- The front-end list/details/related articles are displayed in 4:3 and cropped with cover. Important text and logos should be centered and not placed at the edges.
- When no cover is selected, the front-end may display a placeholder image.
3. Content
The same block toolbar as the message editor: paragraph, title, list, image, button/CTA, FAQ, prompt box, etc.
- Paste Image: Only supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG; failure if no upload permission.
- Content Image: Can set link, Alt, and a specific caption for this article (displayed below the image). The caption is unrelated to the gallery "description".
- Button/CTA: Can link to internal pages/URLs or open a "form" popup. The front-end will not display if both text and link are empty.
- Content has a limit (about 200,000 characters); if paste fails, you can paste as plain text (⌘⇧V).
4. SEO (optional)
Each entry can have its own external title, description, and share image; if not filled, the title follows the site template, the description uses the summary; the share image will try the list cover and the first image of the content in order, and if none, it will use the site's default OG.
You can turn off "Allow search engines to index" (enabled by default; if turned off, it will not be included in the Sitemap, marked as noindex, applied to all languages). See Site-wide SEO Overview.
5. Author (optional)
In the SEO/Author section, you can fill in:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Author Name | Recommended to fill in. Used in the front-end author card and structured data. If not filled, the author card will not be displayed. |
| Author URL | The name can link to the author page or personal website. |
| Author Bio / Author Avatar | Displayed on the author card. |
The switch and position of the author card are in Type Settings (type settings for the news list):
- Display Author Card is enabled by default. If turned off, the author card will not be displayed on the front end, and this section will be highlighted and cannot be changed.
- Author card position can be selected as below the share bar (default; changes to below the content when the share button is not enabled) or below the summary.
You can click Fill in my author information to import from account settings; after writing this article, it will be decoupled from the account, and changes to the account will not affect the saved articles. The author card will not be imported when closed.
6. SEO Check Sidebar
In the lower right corner during editing, there is SEO Check (score; located to the left of the AI assistant). After clicking it:
- Local score: Calculated in real-time based on title, SEO fields, content, cover, author, and keywords (no quota required).
- Writing topic keywords: You can fill in 1 main keyword and up to 4 secondary keywords. This is for checking only and will not appear on the front end.
- You can click on the items that did not pass, and the screen will scroll to the corresponding field.
- AI Evaluation (requires the platform to have AI SEO enabled and sufficient quota): Click 'Execute AI Evaluation'. You need to execute it again after closing the page.
It is recommended to first complete the title and content, fill in the main keywords, and then improve based on the red/yellow items.
Unpublish and Delete
- Temporarily Hide: Change the bottom back to draft, or close the listing from publishing. Before the scheduled time, general visitors will not see it.
- Delete: Cannot be restored.
How to verify
- The listing status is published (or changes from 'Scheduled' to published after the time).
- Preview or open incognito
/{prefix}/{slug}(prefix/article slug), title, cover, and content match. - The 'Latest News (Automatic)' section on the listing page shows this item (pay attention to the category/count filter in the section).
- Check the cover cropping on mobile width to see if important text is cut off.
Common Issues
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Cannot save, need to go to category management first | No categories yet. Please add a category first. |
| "Please select at least one category" | No categories checked in the basic area. |
| Cannot type hyphen in slug | Type slowly in the allowed way for the field, do not let it clear while typing; it will be organized after leaving the field. |
| Scheduled time has passed but not showing | It was saved as a draft, not published; or the timezone was incorrect. Reschedule and publish again. |
| This item is not in the front-end list | It is still a draft, the block selected a different category, or the list page is not published. |
| Cover looks weirdly cropped | Not 4:3, or text is too close to the edge. Crop again according to the recommended size. |
| Preview cannot be opened by others | Preview requires logging into the backend. Please have them use the public URL (must be published). |
