至善基金會’s 30th year needed a short-video contest for students. Signup had to be easy, voting had to resist stuffing, and the staff should not run the event from a spreadsheet.
What we delivered
Submit without signing up
A private link for the entry. Students are not asked to create yet another account.
A vote that checks the person
OTP in front of the ballot, so stuffing the box is no longer the easy path.
The organizers run it themselves
Entries, votes, and the shape of the contest live in an admin, not in a chain of emails.
Background

Low friction, still safe
Students will abandon a heavy signup. The entry still has to arrive intact.
Stuffing the vote
An open poll gets gamed. The check has to happen before the count.
The foundation should not become the helpdesk
Every manual step in a student contest multiplies.
What we did
Each entrant gets a place to upload. No public account wall.
A one-time check, so one person is one vote more often than not.
Entries are presented so a voter can actually see the films.
The foundation changes the contest without a developer in the loop for every tweak.
