If you have filled in www.example.com in the backend, but the browser cannot open it, shows a certificate error, or goes to an old website, refer to this page. For complete steps, see How to Bind a Custom Domain.
For static website Hosting, do not fill in the CMS page, please refer to How to Bind a Static Site Domain.
Checklist
- Have you clicked save? The DNS guidance and status only reflect saved domains. Unsaved drafts will not start verification.
- Is the status 'DNS Correct, Traffic Routed'? 'DNS Not Correctly Pointed' = The record type/name/value at the registrar does not fully match the table, or it is still propagating. Before clicking Refresh Status, please verify the table and wait a few minutes to a few hours.
- Do both the root domain and www need to be opened? If the screen prompts companion domains, both entries need to be set at the registrar. First, delete the A/CNAME pointing to the old host.
- Is the official website a new domain? After binding, go to How to set up tracking and verification to check the official website, which should automatically display the new domain. If it still shows the old URL, please contact us.
- Are you looking at the wrong site or product? The platform's default subdomain usually still works; when the custom domain doesn't open, first use the subdomain to confirm that the website itself is functioning properly.
Common situations
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Certificate warning | Most likely, the DNS has not fully pointed to this platform, or it has just been changed and is still applying for the certificate. Wait for the status to correct and try incognito again. |
| Opening to old WordPress/old host | The registrar still has the old A/CNAME. Delete the conflicting records. |
| Domain can only read but not save | Please have the owner operate it. |
| Domain is correct, but a certain page shows 404 | That is a content or redirect issue, see Changed URL old link 404. |
The HTTPS certificate is applied for and renewed by the platform, and the site owner does not need to upload the certificate file.
