This article completes: Make search engines recognize your site and load GTM/GA4 on the frontend.
For clicks and impressions, see How to Connect Search Performance (that authorizes reading Search Console data, different from the 'HTML tag verification' on this page). To connect events like appointments/LINE to GA4 or ads, see How to Map Tracking Events.
Path: Website → Sitewide SEO → Indexing and URLs tab → Save Sitewide SEO.
1. Official URL
The field Official URL (canonical / metadataBase) is for viewing only and does not need to be filled in.
- The URL displayed on the screen is the website URL used by search engines and when sharing on Facebook and LINE.
- The platform automatically determines based on your custom domain; if a custom domain is not bound yet, it uses the URL provided by the platform.
- The label Automatic indicates that it is determined by the platform based on the domain; Platform specified means the platform has set it specifically for your site.
- After binding or changing the custom domain, the official URL will automatically change as well, no need to modify it again.
- If you need to change the primary domain (for example, to use a URL without
www), please contact us.
2. Sitemap and robots.txt
Block Sitemap and robots.txt. When submitting to Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster, please use the Sitemap URL displayed here (you can click Copy). robots.txt will also declare the same line.
- When the official URL cannot be resolved yet, the screen will prompt you to complete the custom domain first.
- Please resubmit the Sitemap after binding or changing the domain.
3. Website Verification (HTML Tag)
| Field | How to fill |
|---|---|
| Google Search Console Verification (optional) | In Search Console, select HTML Tag. You can paste the entire meta tag or just the content inside. Do not use the "HTML file". After saving, return to Google and click verify. |
| Bing Webmaster Verification (optional) | Similarly use HTML tag. Please re-verify after binding the custom domain. |
This step is just to "prove you own this website". To view the search performance chart, you also need to go to Search Performance to link the account and select the property.
4. GTM/GA4
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager Container ID (optional) | Format GTM-XXXXXXX. After filling in, GTM will be injected into the frontend. It is recommended to use GTM as the only container to manage GA4 and ads inside. |
| Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID (optional) | Copy from GA4 "Admin → Data Streams → Web" (starts with G-). Leaving it blank will not load gtag. /admin, /preview, /auth will not send page_view. |
When both GTM and GA4 are filled in, the screen will warn of possible duplicate calculations. It is recommended to keep only GTM and install GA4 within GTM.
The sidebar also has Tracking Event Description (specification comparison, do not rename event names). The container ID should only be filled in this page. For operational steps, see How to Compare Tracking Events.
Optional: Organization Social/Official Links (sameAs), one https URL per line, which helps with brand recognition.
How to verify
- No trace opening the frontend, GTM/gtag can be seen in the webpage source code or Tag Assistant (based on what you filled in).
- Search Console/Bing verification successful.
- Using the copied Sitemap URL can open XML (published content should appear inside).
- The backend path will not be counted in the frontend page_view.
Common issues
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Verification failed | Used an HTML file instead of a tag; or clicked verify before saving. Save the entire site SEO first, then verify. |
| Invalid after domain change | Confirm the official website displays the new domain, then re-verify and resubmit the Sitemap. |
| Traffic doubled | Both GTM directly connected to GA4 and GA4 within GTM are opened simultaneously. Remove one of them. |
| No Sitemap link | The official website cannot be resolved yet, please complete the custom domain first. |
