This page decides whether the admin shows AI Assistant, which model and reply mode to use, and how to read usage.
Admin: Site Settings → AI Assistant (/admin/settings/ai-assistant).
Who can change it? Usually the owner. The daily conversation cap is set by the platform. The site owner can toggle it, pick the model and mode, and read usage.
Two different “AI” features
| Admin AI Assistant (this page) | Public chat assistant | |
|---|---|---|
| Who uses it | Someone signed in to the admin | A visitor on the site |
| Where it sits | A dialog at the bottom right of the admin | Bottom right of the public site (it can share a row with the marketing shortcut) |
| What it is for | Operate this site in plain language (copy, news, commerce inquiries, and so on) | Answer visitors from content this site has published |
| Where you turn it off | Enable AI Assistant on this page | “Show the public widget” in Set up the chat assistant |
Social post drafts and AI SEO checks are separate modules. See AI features, in brief.
What this page can set
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable AI Assistant | Off hides the assistant dialog at the bottom right of the admin. |
| Model | A faster, cheaper model, or a stronger one. The options on screen win. |
| Reply mode | Fast: ordinary edits run immediately (delete and sensitive actions still ask you). Cautious: ordinary writes also wait for you to confirm. |
| Usage today | Used / limit. Only the platform can change the limit. |
| Tokens (last 7 days) | A usage summary, when the platform is recording it. |
Press Save. If the screen says Disabled by the platform, the owner cannot turn it on.
What you will see in the chat
- Step hints: while it works, it shows the current step (reading a page, updating, and so on).
- Confirm: delete, send an inquiry quote, cancel an order or a booking, and similar actions ask you first.
- Undo: after some text or content updates, you can undo the last one for a short time (the platform needs Redis; without it the button does not appear).
- Rating: under a reply you can mark it up or down, which helps improve quality.
- Tools follow the page you are on: on a commerce screen it is more ready to handle products and inquiries. If a tool is missing, open that module and ask again, or follow the admin link it gives you.
- Images in the dialog: pick a file, drop one, paste, or choose from the library. Send only after the upload succeeds. A failure shows an error and does not hand a broken image to the assistant. You can ask it to place the image on a hero or a cover.
- The page or article you are editing: if you open the assistant from a page or content editor, it is more likely to know “this page” or “this article”. If the path is stale or missing, it will not guess.
- Custom content types: you can ask it to add a type, fields, then an entry. It will not delete a field for you (that would drop old data without a trace). Delete fields yourself under Content Types.
- AI SEO keyword research (the AI SEO module must be on): ask it to research a keyword, then apply one suggestion as a draft page. Applying the same suggestion again does not create a second page. Research can take a minute or two. If it fails, check AI SEO → keyword research.
- Booking services and hours (booking must be on): a sound order is resource, then weekly hours, then a service bound to that resource. You can also ask it to change notification switches or add a blocked day. It will refuse to delete a service that still has future pending or confirmed bookings. Disable the service first.
- Chat assistant and social settings (those modules must be on): ask it to change the chat persona, the public widget, or to queue a knowledge rebuild; or to change social brand voice and the default hashtags and CTA. Social posts are not scheduled or published for you.
- Homepage and path redirects: ask it to set a page as the homepage (it will not clear other roles such as the 404 or legal pages), or to add and remove CMS path redirects. Those are not the redirects on a static site.
How to check
- After you turn it on and save, the admin should show an assistant entry at the bottom right.
- After you turn it off and save, the dialog should disappear. The public chat assistant is unchanged.
- Switch to Cautious, ask it to change a sentence on a page, and it should confirm before it writes.
- (Optional) Paste a JPG in the dialog, confirm it lands in the library, ask the assistant to put it on a hero, and check the public page.
- (Optional) Ask it to create a Team type and add a field. Content Types should show it. If you then say “delete that field”, it should refuse and point you at the admin.
- (Optional) Ask it to research a keyword and apply a suggestion. A draft page should appear, still unpublished. Applying the same suggestion again should not create another page.
- (Optional) Ask it to set a published page as the homepage. The public
/should show that page, and other page roles should stay as they were.
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| You cannot find this page | It is under Site Settings, or this account cannot open it. |
| You wanted the visitor chatbot | That is the chat assistant, not this page. |
| You have used today’s quota | Wait until the next day, or ask the platform to raise the cap. |
| It says it cannot change a module | Open that module’s admin page and ask again, or use the admin link in the reply. |
| There is no Undo | The window may have passed, or the platform is not keeping a temporary copy. Edit the content by hand. |
| An image failed | Check that it is an image and not too large. Try another file. A failure never enters the chat. |
| You asked it to delete a content-type field | Delete it yourself under Content Types. It refuses on purpose. |
| Keyword research failed or took a long time | Open AI SEO → keyword research and retry. Check the plan and the quota. |
| A booking service will not delete | Future pending or confirmed bookings block it. Disable the service, or finish those bookings first. |
