This page gets you here: a new public page (About, services, and similar).
By default only an owner can add or delete pages. A site editor can change the title, content, and publish state of a page that already exists. Layout is in The full-screen page editor.
Before you start
- Your role is owner (or someone helping from the platform). If an editor does not see Add page, that is expected.
- You already know the public path, for example
/about-us, and it does not collide with a fixed path such as the shop, sign-in, or the news prefix.
Where
- Content Types → Pages (
/admin/pages). The list title is Pages | List. - Press Add page at the top right (
/admin/pages/new). - Fill in the title and URL slug under basics, then save. You land on that page’s edit screen.
- Fill in SEO if you need it, open the section editor for the layout, preview, then Publish.
What to fill in under basics
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Yes | The admin list and the public title (when SEO does not set its own). |
| URL slug | Yes (except the homepage) | The public path /{slug}. Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, for example about-us or contact. You can finish a hyphen while typing. Leaving the field, or saving, tidies it. |
| Summary | Optional | A short intro. Some lists, or SEO, can fall back to it. |
On a new page you can fill the title first and let the slug follow, then adjust it. Editing the title later does not change the slug by default.
Do not use reserved words (for example admin, api, news). If you are not sure whether it collides with a module path, contact TimTech.
Homepage: the public URL is the root /. There is no URL piece. Do not create another page whose slug would take the homepage’s place.
After you save, the system creates an internal id. You do not fill that in.
Other sections on the same page
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| SEO | Meta title, description, and share image. Allow search engines to index (on by default. Off means left out of the sitemap and noindex, for every language). The homepage cannot turn indexing off. |
| Body | A long-form editor like news (paragraphs, images, buttons). A short marketing page can leave this empty and use the full-screen section editor for the layout. |
| Page setup | Publish-related settings (follow the words on the screen). The publish switch on the list does the same job. |
| Open the page editor | Only layouts that allow custom sections show this. See The full-screen page editor. |
An owner can open Page field settings at the top right of the list (fields shared by every page on the site). You do not have to change that before adding a page. When you should is in Set page fields.
Publish
- Save first (unsaved content does not enter the preview).
- Use Preview on the list or the toolbar (you must be signed in to the admin).
- Decide whether the menu should include this page. See Edit the menu.
- Set it to Published.
- In a private window, open
https://your-domain/{slug}and check again.
The detail, and “it still looks old,” are in Sections, preview, and publish.
To send an old URL to the new page, use Public path redirects. Turning indexing off is not a redirect.
Check
- The new row is on the page list, the slug is right, and the status is published.
- A private window opens the public URL, and the title is right.
- If it is in the menu, the menu opens this page and not a 404.
- An editor account can change the content and should not be able to add another page (unless this site opened that permission).
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| There is no Add page | You are not an owner. Ask an owner to create it, then you fill in the content. |
| Publish asks for a URL slug | The slug is empty (and this is not the homepage). |
| The public site is 404 | It is still a draft, the slug is wrong, or it collides with a module path. |
| After you add it, there is no section editor | That layout is not a custom-section page, or you are not an owner. Change the title, SEO, and body on the detail page. |
