This page gets you here: save this page’s set of blocks, then apply it to a new page in one step. What you apply is a copy. Editing the template later does not update pages that already loaded it. If one edit should change the whole site, use a synced block.
You do this in the full-screen page editor as well. By default, only the owner.
Save as a template
- On a page, arrange the blocks you want to reuse (content and settings can be included).
- Choose save as a template (it does not appear when there are no blocks).
- Enter a template name (required, for example “Home hero set”) and an optional description.
- Save the template. A notice says it was saved as a template.
The dialog says it will save the current blocks as a template you can apply again.
Load from a template
- Open the page editor of the target page.
- Choose load from a template. The dialog title is load-from-template, and it says you are applying a saved set of blocks to this page.
- Pick a template (it shows the block count and the date).
- Choose how to apply it:
| Control | Effect |
|---|---|
| Append to the end | Adds the template’s blocks after the blocks already on this page |
| Replace current blocks | Clears this page’s blocks and swaps in the template’s set |
Success names the template that was applied. Remember to save the sections.
Empty state: no templates saved yet. Arrange blocks on another page, then save them as a template.
Update or delete a template
After you select a template in load-from-template:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Overwrite with the current blocks | Replaces that template with the blocks on this page now (this page must already have blocks). While it runs, the label shows that it is overwriting |
| Delete | Confirm that deleting the template cannot be undone. Success says the template was deleted. It does not delete the copies already loaded onto pages |
How to check
- Save a template, load it on a blank test page, and the block count and copy should be close.
- Change one block on the test page and save. Do not overwrite the template. Open a third page and load the same template. It should still be what you saved.
- If what you want is “change one place and three pages follow”, use a synced block, not a template.
