This page gets you here: your brand image in the public header and in the browser tab, sized for a wordmark.
By default only an owner can edit it. How to pick an image: Upload and pick from the library.
Where
- Site → General (
/admin/settings). - Under Brand & Site, find the image fields and Frontend header logo display size.
- Choose from the library or upload. Adjust the display size if you need to, then Save brand settings.
How the three image fields differ
| Field | Where it is used | Suggestion |
|---|---|---|
| Logo: frontend / light background (optional) | The public header and other light backgrounds. If it is empty, the theme’s preset image is used. | Transparent PNG or SVG, horizontal or square. Suggested 191×65 px (or the same proportion). |
| Logo: admin / dark background (optional) | The admin sidebar and top bar in dark appearance. If it is empty, the built-in image is used. | The same size. If the admin is set to light appearance, it uses the frontend / light logo instead. |
| Site icon / Favicon (optional) | The small icon on the browser tab. If it is empty, the first letter of the site name is generated. | A square PNG, ICO, or SVG, for example 32×32 or larger. |
The empty state says Not selected.
The header usually shows only the logo. Before a public logo is uploaded, it may show the site name as text instead.
Frontend header logo display size
If the header logo looks too small after upload (common with a thin or long wordmark), you do not need a larger file:
- Under Frontend header logo display size, try Medium, Large, or Extra large first.
- If that is still not enough, choose Custom height and enter pixels (about 24–80; long wordmarks often use 56–64).
This only changes the display height. The width scales with it. The source file can stay 191×65. After you save, check the public homepage.
Check
- After saving, open the public homepage. The header logo should be the right image, not cropped, and a sensible size.
- Check the small icon beside the tab title (favicon). An old icon can stay in the browser cache. Force a reload.
- Look at the header again at a phone width.
- Sign in to the admin in dark appearance and check the sidebar logo.
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| You saved and the old image is still there | Force a reload, or wait for the cache. See Broken images and cache. |
| The logo is blurry or the words are cut off | The file is too small, or the proportion is off. Upload a transparent image again, and keep important text away from the edges. |
| The header logo is too small | Increase Frontend header logo display size, or choose Custom height, enter 56–64, and save again. |
| An editor cannot change it | Ask an owner. |
| You deleted the logo file in the library | Pick a new image on this page and save before you delete the old file. See Delete and the reference check. |
