This page gets you here: the brand text, and the inbox for forms and notifications.
The logo is in Upload a logo and favicon. By default only an owner can edit this.
Where
Site → General → Brand & Site → fill the fields, then Save brand settings.
Fields
| Field | Required | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Site name | Recommended | The browser title, and the header fallback when no logo is set. You can keep it separate from the Open Graph site name in SEO. |
| Tagline (optional) | No | One sentence. Some footer layouts show it. An SEO description can also insert it with a variable. |
| Brand intro (optional) | No | Shown in the brand column of every footer (under the site name). |
| Contact email (optional) | Strongly recommended | Where the public contact form sends mail to the site. You can enter several addresses, separated by a comma or semicolon. If the site leaves this empty, visitors cannot submit the form. |
On a multilingual site, name, tagline, and intro appear again for each language. Leave one blank and the public site shows the default language. The field says that an empty value falls back.
Default admin language and appearance
Two more cards on the same page (these are not the public theme):
- Default admin language: choose Default interface language, then Save default.
- Default admin appearance: what the sign-in page and members without a personal preference see. A person can override it from Appearance in the top bar, or choose Reset to site default.
These two do not change the language visitors see. Public languages are in Choose locales.
Maintenance mode (optional)
The switch is Enable maintenance mode. When it is on, ordinary visitors see a maintenance page (you can edit the title and message). Signed-in members must sign in on the public domain to preview. That session is not the admin session. Turn it off when you finish testing.
Check
- The public header and footer show the right site name, tagline, and intro.
- Send one contact form. The mail arrives in the inbox you entered (check spam). Form submissions in the admin should also have a row.
- Sign in with a test account that has no personal preference. The admin language and appearance match the defaults.
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The form will not send | The contact email is empty or not a valid address. If this field is empty, the public form cannot be submitted. |
| You changed the site name and search results still show the old one | The site SEO title template may be written separately. See Site SEO, in brief. |
| The footer has no intro | That footer does not show the brand column, or you have not saved yet. |
