SHOPLINE's entry plan costs NT$40,000 a year, but that is not the whole bill for running a store.
Its official pricing page also lists a monthly system traffic maintenance fee of 2% of sales. The higher your revenue, the bigger this fee gets.
Ecommerce platforms in Taiwan charge in very different ways, so comparing monthly fees alone makes it easy to underestimate the cost.
This article lays out the published prices of six ecommerce platforms and uses the same revenue figure to estimate each one's three-year total.

Key points
- Platform cost covers the plan fee, setup fee, revenue-linked fees, and transaction fees.
- SHOPLINE starts at NT$40,000 a year, plus 1.5–2% of monthly GMV.
- Shopify Payments is not available in Taiwan, so a 0.2–2% third-party transaction fee applies.
- At NT$300,000 a month in sales, GMV-based plans cost 2–4 times more than fixed-fee plans over three years.
- Consider a custom ecommerce site when pricing rules, quote requests, or system integration get complex.
What makes up the cost of an ecommerce platform?

A platform's pricing page usually puts the plan price front and center.
What a company actually pays, though, is usually made up of the following items.
Annual or monthly plan fee
This is the basic fee for using the platform. Higher plans include more features.
SHOPLINE and WACA bill annually only; Shopify, CYBERBIZ, and EasyStore also offer monthly billing.
One-time setup fee
Some platforms charge a setup fee when you open the store.
SHOPLINE currently charges a one-time system setup fee of NT$5,000; Shopify states that its plans have no setup fee.
GMV fees and third-party transaction fees
GMV (Gross Merchandise Value) is the total value of a store's sales. Some platforms charge a percentage of GMV.
Because these fees rise with revenue, they are the cost most often underestimated.
SHOPLINE's system traffic maintenance fee and Shopify's third-party transaction fee both fall into this category.
CYBERBIZ, WACA, and EasyStore state on their pricing pages that they take no commission.
Payment and shipping fees
Card payments, convenience-store pickup, and similar services are charged by payment and logistics providers, whichever platform you use.
For example, the PayNow card rate listed on WACA's pricing page is a limited-time 2.1%, down from 3.5%.
Every platform has these fees, so you can leave them out when comparing platforms, but keep them in your budget.
Add-on modules and apps
Features a plan does not include often have to be bought separately.
For example, SHOPLINE's advanced social commerce module costs NT$10,000 a year.
Shopify mostly extends features through apps, and the cost depends on the app.
When comparing platforms, first check whether the fee is fixed or grows with your revenue.

Shopify pricing: billed in US dollars, with third-party transaction fees in Taiwan
| Plan | Per month, billed annually | Per month, billed monthly | Third-party transaction fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | US$19 | US$25 | 2% |
| Grow | US$49 | US$65 | 1% |
| Advanced | US$299 | US$399 | 0.6% |
| Plus | From US$2,300 | From US$2,300 | 0.2% |

If you do not use Shopify Payments, Shopify's own payment service, Shopify charges a third-party transaction fee based on your plan.
Taiwan is not currently on the list of countries supported by Shopify Payments. According to Shopify, merchants in countries not on the list need a third-party payment provider.
So merchants in Taiwan need to count the third-party transaction fee as part of the cost.

The plans center on branded apps and in-store integration, so you need to ask 91APP directly for pricing.
Worked example: what do you pay over 3 years at NT$300,000 a month?
Suppose a company has NT$300,000 in monthly sales and picks each platform's entry-level paid plan. Here is the platform-related cost over three years.
Assumptions:
- Payment and shipping fees apply on every platform, so they are left out.
- US dollars are converted at about NT$30 to US$1.
- Current published prices are used and assumed to stay the same for three years.

| Plan | Calculation | 3-year total |
|---|---|---|
| SHOPLINE Store Explorer | Setup fee 5,000 + annual fee 40,000 × 3 + 2% GMV × 36 months | About NT$341,000 |
| Shopify Basic (billed annually) | US$19 × 36 months + 2% third-party transaction fee × 36 months | About NT$236,500 |
| WACA Business Growth | NT$3,099 × 36 months | About NT$111,600 |
| EasyStore Standard (billed monthly) | NT$2,624 × 36 months | About NT$94,500 |
| CYBERBIZ Professional (billed annually) | NT$28,350 × 3 years | About NT$85,100 |
The gap comes mainly from revenue-linked fees. SHOPLINE's system traffic maintenance fee adds up to about NT$216,000 over three years, roughly 60% of the total.
This fee grows in proportion to revenue.
At 2%, monthly sales of NT12,000 a year; at NT240,000 a year.
With a fixed-fee plan, platform costs stay flat as revenue grows; with a revenue-based plan, they rise with it.
Still, price is only one factor in choosing a platform. Whether the features are enough, payment and shipping support, and how the admin works all affect the real operating cost.
When does an ecommerce platform stop being the cheaper option?
Ecommerce platforms let you open a store quickly without maintaining the system yourself.
For brands with simple product options that mainly sell through standard checkout, a platform is usually the lowest-cost choice. In the following situations, though, costs outside the platform fee start to grow.
The higher the revenue, the heavier the GMV fee
On revenue-based plans, platform fees rise as revenue grows.
Brands with steadily growing revenue can recalculate the total cost once a year and compare it with fixed-fee plans or a self-built site.
Complex options and pricing logic

Standard ecommerce platforms work well for products with fixed options and prices.
When the price depends on size, material, or finishing, as with printed matter or made-to-order products, fixed option lists struggle to express it, and quotes often end up being done by hand.
TimTech's Enterprise E-Commerce and Online Inquiry System handles this with product options and price building blocks.
The system calculates the price from the options, size, material, and finishing, so fewer quotes have to be done by hand.
For print shops, there is a print order automation system: once the customer picks the options and finishes the design online, the quote appears.
Quote requests or a quotation process
B2B deals often start with a quote request, and the order is placed only after quantity, specifications, and lead time are confirmed.
If the platform only supports direct checkout, these steps have to happen outside it by email or LINE, and quote and order data end up in different places.
The Enterprise E-Commerce and Online Inquiry System brings AI customer service, quote requests, member accounts, and order management into one system, so customers can request a quote or place an order online.
Connecting to ERP, CRM, and other existing systems
Companies already using ERP or CRM need orders, inventory, and customer data to stay in sync.
Which systems a platform can connect to depends on the APIs and partner services it offers, and may not fit the company's existing processes.
A custom ecommerce site can plan integrations around your needs, such as payments, shipping, e-invoicing, LINE Official Account, CRM, ERP, and third-party APIs.
Common questions about ecommerce platform costs
Does SHOPLINE take a commission?▼
SHOPLINE does not call it a commission, but its official pricing page lists a monthly system traffic maintenance fee of 2% of GMV, or 1.5% on the Omnichannel Navigator plan, excluding POS sales. In practice it works much like a revenue share, so include it when estimating costs.
Do merchants in Taiwan pay transaction fees on Shopify?▼
Yes. Taiwan is not on the list of countries supported by Shopify Payments, so merchants in Taiwan need a third-party payment provider, and Shopify charges a 0.2–2% third-party transaction fee depending on the plan. The payment provider also charges its own fees.
Before choosing a platform, work out the 3-year total
A platform's plan price is only the starting point. Setup fees, revenue-based fees, and add-on modules can push the real cost far from the number on the pricing page.
Plug your own expected revenue into the calculation in this article and compare three-year totals. The higher your revenue, the more it matters whether fees are tied to it.
