Keyword ranking research is an essential part of doing SEO well.
Google Keyword Planner compiles important data so we can find better keywords and complete our keyword research.
Today I'll show you how to use this planning tool. Let's get started!
How do you use Google Keyword Planner?
If you're a beginner who has never used Keyword Planner, I'll walk you through three stages—“creating an account,” “hands-on use,” and “advanced tips”—to help you get familiar with the tool.
Sign up for Google Ads for free
First, we need to sign up for Google Ads. This process changes slightly between versions, but the steps are broadly the same.
STEP 1 → Go to Keyword Planner
First, open Google Keyword Planner, click the blue “Go to Keyword Planner” button, and then sign in with your Google account.
STEP 2 → Choose an advertising goal
Next, choose your main advertising goal. Any of the three options will do; once you've chosen, click “Continue.”
STEP 3 → Enter your website name and URL
Next, enter your website name and URL and review the landing page for the ad. Once you've entered and reviewed them, click Continue.
