This page gets you here: a colleague can sign in to this site’s admin with the invited email.
Only an owner can do this. Narrowing permissions is in Narrow what editors can do.
Where
Site → Members (/admin/settings/members).
The card is the site’s member list. Role permissions at the top right opens the page that narrows permissions. It is not the invite form.
When they open the mail, the site asks them to set a password and create an account (a new account) or to sign in (an existing account), then accept the invite. The admin has no public sign-up.
Invite one colleague
- Under the invite-by-email section, fill in:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Invited email | The email they will actually use to sign in |
| Role | Editor (the default) or Viewer. The owner option is not shown to a site owner |
- Send the invite. A success notice confirms the invite mail was sent.
- Ask them to check the inbox, including spam, and follow the link to set a password or sign in, then accept.
- After they sign in, confirm the right site is selected at the top right.
If the screen shows seats in use (for example 2 / 5): when it is full you cannot send another invite, and a notice says the seats are full. Upgrade the plan, or remove a member and clear unfinished invites, then try again.
Change a role
The list columns are email / user id, role, and actions.
- On that row, choose Editor or Viewer.
- Press Update. A success notice confirms the role was updated.
The Owner choice is disabled. A site owner cannot promote someone to owner, and cannot change an owner into an editor. To adjust owners, contact TimTech.
Resend a password-reset mail
If they forgot the password, or the set-password mail after the invite never arrived: on that row, resend the password-reset mail. A success notice confirms it was sent. The flow matches Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
They can also open /admin/forgot-password themselves. Someone who is already signed in can change the password in Account settings.
Remove a member
On that row, remove them. A success notice confirms the member was removed.
- You cannot remove yourself.
- You cannot remove an owner (contact TimTech).
- Before you remove them, check they do not still hold an unhanded draft or the only copy of a setting.
Check
- Walk through the invite with another inbox. They can enter the admin.
- An editor can change news and pages. A viewer’s save control cannot be used, or the save fails.
- An editor does not see Members (they are sent away).
When it sticks
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|

| The invite mail never arrived | Check spam, and ask the owner to send it again. If it is still missing, contact TimTech. |
| Seats are full | Remove a member who no longer uses the site, or upgrade to a plan with more seats. |
| After sign-in the site is wrong | Switch sites from the top right. See Switch sites and move around the admin. |
| You want another owner | A site owner cannot invite an owner. Contact TimTech. |
