This article completes: Allow international customers to select their country at checkout, and the system will automatically calculate shipping fees based on your set regions.
International shipping is done by you (e.g., post office EMS, DHL), without going through Green World Logistics. For domestic delivery, convenience stores, and in-store pickup, see How to Set Checkout and Shipping.
Prerequisites
- E-commerce online purchase must be enabled, and the platform must have international shipping enabled. If not enabled, the international shipping tab will display "Not enabled by platform"; please contact the platform.
- At least one payment method available for international customers: online payment (e.g., credit card, PayPal), or bank transfer. International shipping does not offer cash on delivery. For payment settings, see How to Set Payment and Invoices and How to Collect Payments Without Integrating Payment Systems.
Path
E-commerce → Store Settings → Logistics tab (/admin/commerce/store).
Find International Shipping (Self-Shipping), and save after completing the settings.
Set region and shipping fees
- Turn on the International Shipping (Self-Shipping) switch.
- Click Add Region and fill in the settings for each region in the table below.
- For countries with different shipping fees, add another region.
- Click save at the bottom.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Region Name | For example, "Asia" or "North America". Displayed only in the backend, customers cannot see it. |
| Enabled | When turned off, countries in this region cannot place orders temporarily, but the settings will be retained. |
| Shipping Fee | The shipping fee charged for each order to this region, in New Taiwan Dollars (NT$). |
| Free Shipping Threshold | Orders reaching this amount will qualify for free shipping; enter 0 to indicate no free shipping. |
| Covered Countries | Enter country names or codes (e.g., JP, US) in the search box and select the countries for delivery. Selected countries will be displayed below, and you can click the cross to remove them. |
Rules:
- The same country can only be placed in one region. If duplicated, saving will fail and inform you which country it is.
- A maximum of 30 regions can be set.
- The country list does not include Taiwan; please use domestic shipping methods for shipments to Taiwan.
- Once the switch is turned on, there must be at least one enabled region with selected countries for the checkout page to display 'International Shipping'.
Example
| Region Name | Covered Countries | Shipping Fee | Free Shipping Threshold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asia | Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore | 450 | 5000 |
| North America | United States, Canada | 900 | 0 |
A customer from Japan pays 450 for shipping on a 3,000 yen order; free shipping for orders over 5,000 yen. A customer from the United States pays 900 regardless of the amount.
How customers place orders
- Customers select International Shipping on the checkout page.
- Select Country/Region. The list will only show the countries you have checked and that are enabled. Shipping costs will be displayed after selecting the country.
- Fill in the recipient, phone number (including country code), Street Address, and City; State/Province and Postal Code are optional. The checkout page will prompt customers to fill in using English or local pinyin.
- Choose online payment or bank transfer, then submit the order.
Customers will only see their own country and shipping costs, and will not see your region name or shipping costs for other regions. Logged-in members can save overseas addresses in their address book for direct selection next time.
Membership level free shipping offers do not apply to international shipping, and international orders will only see the free shipping threshold for that region.
How to ship in the backend
Go to Orders to open the order, the shipping address will display the country in English format.
- Confirm payment has been received (for bank transfer orders, first confirm receipt of payment).
- After sending it yourself, fill in the carrier and tracking number, then click ship.
- If a shipping notification is issued, the customer will receive a shipping email.
International orders cannot call Green World to create a shipping order, and the order page will not display that button.
How to verify
- The front-end checkout page shows "International Shipping", and the country list only includes the countries you selected.
- Selecting countries from different regions will change the shipping cost; when the amount reaches the free shipping threshold, the shipping cost becomes 0.
- There is no cash on delivery payment method.
- After placing an order with a test order, the backend order displays the overseas address in English format, and you can fill in the tracking number for shipping.
Common Issues
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The checkout page does not have "International Shipping" | The switch is not turned on, not saved, or all regions are disabled / no countries are checked. If the shopping cart has frozen or refrigerated items, only cold chain shipping will appear. |
| Customers say they can't find their country | The country is not checked in any enabled regions. |
| An error appears when saving: "The same country cannot appear in two regions" | Remove it from one of the regions based on the country in the message. |
| Selected international shipping but no payment method available | Online payment is not enabled, and bank transfer is not opened. International shipping does not offer cash on delivery. |
| Shipping cost shows "Please select a country first" | The customer has not selected a country; once selected, the shipping cost will be calculated. |
| Membership level has free shipping, but international orders still incur shipping fees | Expected behavior. International shipping only considers the free shipping threshold of the region. |
