This article covers: Creating a product in the backend and publishing it to the front-end /shop.
For specifications and images, see How to Set Specifications and Pricing, How to Set Product Images.
Prerequisites
- The platform has enabled e-commerce (see How to Enable Modules).
- Your role is Owner or Site Editor (viewers can only see).
Path
Sidebar E-commerce → Product Management (URL /admin/commerce/products).
The list title is "Product List"; the top right corner has Add Product.
What can be done on the product list
| Operation | Description |
|---|---|
| Search/Filter | Find products by title, etc. |
| Publish Switch | Change published items back to draft, or publish drafts directly on the list |
| Edit | Enter the edit page for that product |
| Preview | Open the front-end product page (URL must already exist) |
| Copy as Draft | Copy an item as a draft for further editing |
| Delete | Cannot be undone, please confirm there are no pending orders relying on it |
| Drag and Drop Sorting | Adjust the order in the list (front-end store order will follow the list) |
| Bulk | After selecting multiple items, you can bulk publish, change to draft, change sales mode, or delete |
The list columns generally include: thumbnail, title, slug, category, sales mode, status. Unclassified items will display "(Unclassified)"; archived items will be marked as "Archived."
Add a new product (step by step)
- Click Add Product in the product list.
- At the top of the screen, there are tabs (product settings tabs), usually from left to right:
- Basic
- Detailed Content
- SEO
- Media
- Price Check、Specification Fields、Calculation Components、Trial Calculation (for inquiry products or when online purchase is not enabled, only Specification Fields are available)
- If the product has online design enabled, there will also be printing-related tabs.
- First fill in Basic (see table below), then switch to other tabs as needed.
- Bottom toolbar:
- Save Draft: Not visible to front-end visitors.
- Publish: Visible on the front-end store and product page (status changes to 'Published').
- When adding, saving at once will create the product, selected images, and pricing/specification settings simultaneously. For later edits, use the same bottom toolbar to save.
‘Basic’ tab fields
| Field | Required | Purpose and Filling Suggestions |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Yes | Product name, will appear in the list, product page, and browser title (if SEO is not filled separately). |
| URL slug | Yes | Frontend URL segment, for example, business-card in /shop/business-card. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens; you can type hyphens while entering, and the system will format it when you leave the field. Make few changes after going live. |
| SKU | Optional | Product code; can be used for store POS search. |
| Barcode | Optional | Barcode string; can be matched with store scanning guns. |
| Status | — | Draft/Published/Archived. For daily use, just use the bottom ‘Save Draft/Publish’; archiving is for removing from sale but keeping a record. |
| Product Category | Suggested | Multiple selections allowed; used for store filtering and ‘Related Products’. Related products will not appear without categories. Please create categories first at Product Categories. |
| Summary | Suggested | Short introduction for the list or product page; may also serve as a backup for SEO description if not filled. |
| Sales Model | Yes | Available for Purchase (e-commerce) or Inquiry Only. See below. |
| Low Temperature Delivery | Optional | Only appears for Available for Purchase products. Not Required (Room Temperature), Frozen, or Chilled. After setting to Frozen or Chilled, orders containing this product can only select the corresponding temperature layer for Black Cat Delivery (PAYUNi), and must be paid online via PAYUNi; frozen and chilled products cannot be in the same order. The store must first enable PAYUNi Black Cat Low Temperature Delivery, see How to Set Up Checkout and Shipping. |
| Show Related Products | Optional | When enabled, other published products in the same category will be listed below the product details. |
| POS Listing | Optional | Only appears when the platform has enabled POS Cash Register. When enabled, only published and priceable products will enter the cash register catalog. See How to Use POS Cash Register. |
Multilingual site: Title and summary will have language tabs; languages not filled will display the main language content. See How to Translate Content.
How to choose the sales model
| Setting | Frontend Behavior |
|---|---|
| Available for Purchase (e-commerce) | Can calculate price, add to cart, and checkout (requires platform to have online purchase enabled) |
| Inquiry Only | Does not display checkout amount; main button is to add to inquiry list (requires platform to have inquiry enabled) |
Supplement:
- The two modes are mutually exclusive, a product can only choose one.
- If the platform only opens for inquiries and does not enable online purchases: even if the backend still shows 'available for purchase', the frontend will follow the inquiry process. At this time, the pricing tab will mostly only have the specifications field, and the data table for price checking / price components / quantity settings will be hidden.
- Multiple items can be selected in the list to change the sales model in bulk.
‘Detailed Content’ tab
You can add multiple tabs; each tab can only select one type of content:
| Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Rich Text | Product description. Enter / to insert paragraphs, headings, lists, quotes, tables, images, etc. |
| Download | Catalogs, specifications, etc. in PDF/ZIP; the upload mechanism is the same as the 'Download Area' on the page. |
There will be a default rich text tab named 'Product Information'. On the frontend product page: the tab switch will not be displayed when there is only one tab with content; it will only display the tab bar when there are multiple.
For inserting images in rich text, please use the site’s Image Selector (Upload and Select from Gallery), do not directly paste an image from your computer that has not been uploaded to the gallery. Inline images will go into the gallery folder 'Product Management'.
‘SEO’ tab (optional)
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| SEO Title | Override the browser tab title; leave blank to use the product title |
| SEO Description | Override the meta description; leave blank to use the summary |
| Allow Search Engine Indexing | Default is enabled. If disabled, the product will not be included in the Sitemap and will be marked as noindex |
Unpublish and Delete
- Temporarily Unavailable: Use the bottom Unpublish (or toggle the list publish switch back to draft). Confirm the message is "Are you sure you want to unpublish this product? It will not be purchasable on the frontend (until republished)."
- Permanently Remove: Use Delete on the edit page or list. This action cannot be undone.
How to Verify
- The backend list status should be "Published", and the thumbnail and category should appear correct.
- Open the frontend at
/shop, and the product should be visible. - Click on the product page, the URL slug, title, summary, and detailed content (including multiple tabs/downloads if any) meet expectations.
- Depending on the sales model: products for purchase can be added to the shopping cart; inquiry products can be added to the inquiry list.
- If the store has no published products,
/shopwill not appear in the Sitemap (see e-commerce overview).
Common Issues
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Sidebar does not have "Product Management" | Module not enabled or insufficient permissions. See How to enable modules, What to do if permissions are insufficient. |
| Save failed "Please fill in the title and slug" | Both title and URL slug must have values. |
| "Product with the same slug already exists" | Change to a different URL segment. |
Cannot see /shop on the front end | Confirm that you have clicked Publish (not just saved as draft); check if category filters are excluding the product. |
| Want to change specifications or images | You can still edit the page after saving; specifications see How to set specifications and pricing, images see How to set product images. |
